MICHIGAN -2.5 over Penn State-----I don't think Michigan's injuries are that big of a factor(Derrick Green went OFTS last game) because they need to get new offensive players in there anyway.  While Michigan has set a new 135-year record for losing in September,  and they do suck,  they also have home-off-road-loss in this spot---which should help any normal team----and they have 4 years of revenge motivation against Penn State.   While Penn State is off a bye,  Chris Tillman didn't get the job done for the Orioles last night and Christian Stewart didn't win for BYU on Thursday.  So I don't see Christian Hackenberg outperforming today for PSU.  You also have to consider how Michigan lost last game in New Jersey(a corrupt state where their high school football players sexually molest each other).   It was 3rd and 8 and the Michigan receiver clearly caught the ball with 2 hands on it and 2 feet down inbounds near the marker with the ball only coming loose after the WR had fallen out of bounds and reached his ball hand out and the ground dislodged the ball when it hit it.   It was ruled a drop AND THEN CONFIRMED ON VIDEO REVIEW when it was clearly a caught ball.  If called correctly,  Michigan may have made a 1st down there or gone for it on 4th and inches or kicked an FG that was 48yds instead of the 56yarder that was blocked.   It doesn't mean Michigan would have won the game if the flagrantly corrupt call favoring Rutgers,  the home team,  had been called right,   but the stark injustice of it should help Michigan's luck here on a home-off-road-loss.(Win 18-13............Jourdan Lewis INT)

PITTSBURGH PIRATES(Volquez) -102 over San Francisco Giants(Bumgarner)----Certainly,  the limp defeat taken by the Steelers at home in Pittsburgh on Sunday and the unthinkably impossible loss,  at home in Pittsburgh,  as 20.5 point favorites,  by the Pitt Panthers at the hands of the Akron Zips are important risk factors to consider.   However,  as I supported the Pirates last year(when they almost got past Michael Wacha,  but didn't) I'll also support them this year as I think its more "their year" than it is the Giants.   That is,  the Giants have really overperformed in recent postseasons.  2 WS wins since 2010??  Surprising in 2010 and,  of course,  they had absolutely no business beating the Tigers in 2012----if I remember correctly.   The home crowd got the job done in the AL WC game last night(of course,  they had a boost from the HUGE Chiefs home win the night before;  such an "NFL boost" the Pirates will not have in this game) so we can look to that for confidence...........and note that the Steelers were beaten by Buccaneers,  which are..........like Pirates.(Lose 8-0..........Pirates say nolo contendere.............no desire to win this game.)
